Why?

Why?

We write because we must

Because your father never accepted you
And your mother never could stand up to him.

We write because there are sirens in the distance
Too easy for people to ignore.

We write to make things louder
And because your city's poverty is your blind spot.

We write about the kid at the hospital
And the wild mint that grows behind the farmhouse

We write to reunite them....

We write to prevent the sinking of the eyes
To keep ourselves alert.

We write cause the freshly painted sign asks us not to make a fingerprints,
And we still need some way to make our mark on the world.
